WESTVIEW FOOTBALL PLAYER & PARENT COMMITMENT CONTRACT:

In order to prevent confusion and/or conflict I feel it is important that everybody understands the level of commitment and expectations the privilege of being a football player entails.

It is important that all parties understand that football is NOT a mandatory activity. Being a part of this program is a privilege that can be taken from you at any time. You have a choice to accept this challenge. You may also choose not to at any time. You may also choose not to agree with the protocol and guidelines of this contract. However, it is mandatory to read, accept, and follow the guidelines outlined in this agreement if you wish to keep the privilege of being a team member for the Wolverines.

The lessons taught in high school athletics are enumerable. Our football program can be solely defined by our “PACT” philosophy focusing on our purpose, attitude, core values, and tenets. Our coaching staff will be working diligently each day to stress the importance of character while teaching many life skills with an emphasis on making our kids ‘IMPACT’ players both on and off the field. We’ll constantly be challenging our players to be above the influence, be a positive mentor to our youth, respect their parents at all times, excel with their academics, be a positive contributor to our community, and put the team before themselves. Not all will be strong enough to make the needed sacrifices. Those that do will gain immeasurable rewards and an experience of a lifetime.

By agreeing to this contract I am also fully committing to the fact that I will not participate in the use of any drugs, tobacco, or alcohol during the season. I also agree to thoroughly read the Westview football “program procedures” (parent/player handbook) and understand all of its contents and consequences.

I am fully aware that…

I am about to make a commitment to be a member of the Westview football program.
The level of time and commitment expected will exceed that of any middle school or club/recreation sport.
Although I am encouraged to take part in other activities, I understand that mandatory football activities will be given priority over any non-academic conflicts of time.
Any rumored violation of the drug/alcohol policy will result in immediate action involving a mandatory meeting with the coaching staff.
I will be accountable for all my actions on and off the field and will represent the football program with class.
I must abide by all team guidelines and procedures at all times while doing everything I can to uphold to Westview football’s core values and tenets that will be emphasized and expected throughout my career.
Being a member of this program is a privilege not a right and can be taken away from me at any time.
Missing a practice will result in missing playing time regardless of whether it is excused or not.
All work schedules must be made around the football schedule. Jobs are not an excuse to miss practice (nor are club sport practices/games).
If I don’t agree with these terms I may choose not to participate in football.
If any “gray” area arises the coaching staff has the right and responsibility to handle that as we see fit.

Player agreement and/or signature during registration indicates that they will remain a part of this team and attend all games and practices during training camp, the regular season, playoffs, and despite any
injuries. Parent’s agreement and/or signature during registration indicates they have read the above contract and also understand the team procedures and expectations. Both player and parents are obligated to read the entire ‘parent/player’ handbook on the wvhsfootball.com website (Player Personnel tab) and abide by its contents. If there are any questions or concerns it is the parent’s responsibility to notify the head coach immediately. It is clear that parent’s can be contacted by coaches after detrimental player infractions, but it is also important to note that a player can be dismissed from the team at any time for what the staff feels is repeated insubordination. Both player and parents hereby agree to participate with the Westview football program and agree to follow the guidelines throughout the entire spring, summer, and fall seasons while supporting the coaching and training staff in their efforts with coaching techniques/schemes, motivation, and first aid.
